China publishes 15-year plan focusing on innovation
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has published an economic plan for the 14th five-year plan from 2021 to 2025 and its agenda for next 15 years.
Details were disclosed in a communique issued after the conclusion of the four day fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on 29 October.
The session focused on long term goals in nine areas and on China’s ambition to be a global leader in innovation by 2035.
According to the communique, by 2035 China plans to achieve new industrialisation,
urbanisation, agricultural modernisation, and finish building a modernised economy.
It plans to have in place by then the modernisation of government and the rule of law for the country, the government, and society.
The document said that China would aim to promote international cooperation and continue to advance its belt and road strategy and actively participate in the reform of the global economic governance system.
